The tournament will use 15-point "powers" and five point "negs". Bonuses will be rebounding.
Teams will be divided into preliminary pools that will each play a round robin in the morning, after which all teams will be re-bracketed into playoff and consolation pools for the afternoon. All teams will be guaranteed approximately 8-9 matches throughout the day. Registration will be from 8:00 to 8:30, with a brief team meeting around 8:30 before round one begins by 9:00. We anticipate finishing the afternoon rounds around 4:30 PM, with the top couple of teams possibly playing another match or two after that. In order to provide the best experience and maximum playing time to all participants and to keep scheduling predictable, all teams are expected to return from lunch to play all of their scheduled matches.

We will NOT assess a five-point penalty for interrupting the moderator during the tossup with an incorrect answer. Each incorrect bonus part will immediately rebound.
Players who have previously competed in the playoffs at the Small School National Championship Tournament or High School National Championship Tournament, or the championship pools at the National Scholastic Championship or last season’s NAQT Missouri Qualifier, will not be eligible to compete. Additionally, schools which qualified for the championship pools at last season’s NAQT Missouri Qualifier or NSC, or playoffs at SSNCT or HSNCT, will only be able to place teams on the waitlist. Should spots become open on or after December 9th, teams will be moved into the field in the order teams were registered. Because of this restriction, we will not be serving as a qualifier for any national tournament.

We are currently capping the field at 18 teams. The field can expand if there is more interest and more importantly staff. Last year there was interest, but staffing was what kept us from expanding.
Matches will begin at 9:00 AM, and there will be a lunch break around 12:00-12:30 PM. Lunch options are mostly in neighboring towns (10 minute drive at least). Our Speech & Debate team is handling concessions this year and will likely continue the grilling of Hamburgers and Chicken sandwiches that has happened in the past. I will get concession pricing together soon. I don't plan on the tournament going any later than 5:00 PM (Last year we finished at 3:45).

We have removed the "negs" to encourage younger players to buzz without the fear of a penalty, so we hope that you will not only want to bring your varsity team to the tournament but your JV teams as well.
We anticipate using two full round robins in the morning and afternoon with an advantaged final to decide the champion depending on the number of teams registered.
We will also be limiting teams to a maximum of six players. But you may sign up as many teams as you wish. We are initially capping the field at 24 but are hoping to expand to 36 this year contingent on acquiring enough tournament personnel to host a larger field but still ensure a quality tournament.

- Correct tossup answers are ten points each. We will not be awarding powers. No penalty will be assessed for interrupting the moderator with an incorrect answer. There are no math computation questions.
Teams rosters shall be limited to seven players; schools are encouraged to bring junior varsity and "B" teams to compete. Teams may play with fewer than four players, but we request that teams have at least two players.
Teams will play five morning rounds, break for lunch, then return for at least three afternoon games. This setup is subject to change, depending on the number of teams signed up. We plan to start the team meeting at 8:30 a.m., with the first round set for 8:50 a.m. and afternoon rounds slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. With the exception of any playoff games for trophies, we anticipate the last game ending around 4 p.m.
