Correct tossup answers are ten points each, with an additional five-point “power” awarded for providing a correct answer before a predetermined point. We will not assess a penalty for interrupting the moderator during the tossup with an incorrect answer.
We are currently limiting the field to 18 teams; this may expand depending on staff availability. 2 teams from each school will initially be placed in the field. Additional teams will be placed on a waitlist and contacted should an opening occur. If enough interest exists, we may consider establishing separate divisions based on skill level and/or experience.
Each game shall consist of two halves of ten tossups each, with each correct tossup followed by a three-part bonus. Correct tossup answers are ten points each. We will not assess a five-point penalty for interrupting the moderator during the tossup with an incorrect answer.
Teams will play five morning rounds, break for lunch, then return for at least three afternoon games. This setup is subject to change, depending on the number of teams signed up. We plan to start the team meeting at 8:30 a.m., with the first round set for 8:50 a.m. and afternoon rounds slated to begin at 1:30 p.m. With the exception of any playoff games for trophies, we anticipate the last game ending around 4 p.m.
This tournament is open to ALL freshmen and sophomore players (NO juniors or seniors).

Plaques will be awarded to the top two overall finishers and the top two small schools (under 500 enrollment in grades 10-12, public, non-selective). Large and small schools will play in the same division.

Teams will be divided into preliminary pools that will each play a round robin in the morning, after which all teams will be re-bracketed into playoff and consolation pools for the afternoon. All teams will be guaranteed approximately 8-9 matches throughout the day. Registration will be from 8:00 to 8:30, with a brief team meeting around 8:30 before round one begins by 9:00. We anticipate finishing the afternoon rounds around 4:30 PM, with the top couple of teams possibly playing another match or two after that.
In order to provide the best experience and maximum playing time to all participants and to keep scheduling predictable, all teams are expected to return from lunch to play all of their scheduled matches. If you feel like your team cannot commit to a full day of competition we would ask you to not register until you can confirm their full participation.
This tournament will now be held virtually using Google Meet.

We are setting team size limit to 6, but you may register more than one team. We will be setting an initial cap for this tournament at 18 teams. Due to COVID concerns as well as other logistical limitations, this tournament’s field will be initially capped at 24 teams. Field expansion is unlikely but may change in the future and we will, of course, have a waitlist.
We will be limiting a team’s roster to a maximum of 6 players; schools are encouraged to bring junior varsity or "B" or "C" teams to compete. Rosters will be submitted in advance, but won’t be finalized until during check-in the morning of the tournament. Players may not change teams during the tournament.
There will be a maximum of 6 players on each team roster. If you would like to bring more players, please do not hesitate to sign up multiple teams in order to get the maximum amount of experience for your players.
The field will initially be capped at 24 teams, with a waitlist forming for further interest. If the field fills, we will be able to guarantee teams 10 games, providing a significant amount of early season experience.
